OCEAN, NJ (March 24, 2009)- Synergy Events, a full-service, independent event marketing agency located in Ocean, NJ, was honored at the Promotion Marketing Association's (PMA) annual REGGIE Awards in Chicago last week. PMA launched the REGGIE awards in 1983 to honor the best promotional campaigns of the year. The name of the award is derived from "cash register," because an effective marketing campaign makes the register ring.
Synergy won a Silver REGGIE award for planning and executing the 2008 Wachovia Way2Save Challenge Tour.
The mobile tour, which was designed to help drive awareness for Wachovia's new Way2Save product, was entered into the "New Product Launch" category. Wachovia introduced Way2Save in early 2008 as an automatic savings program to help consumers save money by transferring $1 from their checking account into a special savings account each time customers make purchases with their Check Cards or make payments electronically.
The tour helped Wachovia far exceeded its media impression goals (658 million actual vs. a 100 million goal) and account activation numbers (1.3 million for 2008 vs. 100,000) that were related to the tour.
Wachovia challenged Synergy Events to conceptualize, design and create the World's Largest Money Machine as the centerpiece of the tour. Under Synergy's direction, the 36'X35'X26' structure came to life in 12 cities across the country. The Money Machine housed eight individual money machines. Five times during each tour stop, consumers had the opportunity to step inside the structure to grab swirling faux money for the opportunity to win prizes.
The tour also included a grassroots campaign that visited city streets, retail, waterfronts and high traffic consumer locations to help drive awareness for Way2Save, as well as traffic to the main events; a "Money Machine on Wheels," a 24-foot Glass Box Truck that housed three individual money machines; Wachovia-branded Segways and smaller individual money cylinders.
The tour, which will be featured in a special section of the April 6 Brandweek issue, also included photo, golf and massage areas where consumers could relax, have fun and learn about new and easy ways to save with Wachovia.
"It's a tremendous honor to receive a REGGIE Award," said Peter Hurley, president of Synergy Events. "The Wachovia Way2Save Challenge Tour reflected our philosophy of taking an integrated approach to experiential events. Wachovia was a terrific partner and we are pleased that the tour helped them far surpass their 2008 goals for Way2Save."
